Marinated beef - Refer to the basics blog to know how to marinate meat
1 peeled carrot
3-4 boiled potato or uncooked potato
3-4 cut mushrooms
3 cup of water
1 cup of flour
1 tsp of oil or butter
2 strip of bacon (optional)
Spices (chicken powder broth,crushed cayenne,onion powder,garlic powder,salt)
Vegetarian Option: Skip the beef and bacon, and follow the same steps for a veggie-friendly version.
Instructions
Peel your potatoes and cut them into cubes. If you’re using already boiled potatoes, you can set them aside for now.
In a large pan, heat some oil or butter. Add your marinated beef, cover, and let it cook for 2-3 minutes without adding water yet.
Toss in your carrots, mushrooms, and uncooked potatoes (if you’re using raw potatoes). Cover and cook for about 2 minutes until the mushrooms get a nice brown color.
Add enough water to cover the ingredients and sprinkle in your favorite spices. Cover the pan and let everything cook until the potatoes are soft (this takes about 10-15 minutes). If you’re using already boiled potatoes, this is where you add them to the pan.
While the soup is simmering, fry your bacon for a crispy topping. This step is optional but adds a delicious crunch to the dish.
In a bowl, mix some flour, spices, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add 1/2 cup of water and knead the dough until it comes together. Add 1 teaspoon of oil to make it smooth. Break off small pieces of dough, roll them into balls with your hands, and set them aside.
Drop the dumplings into the pan with the soup and let them cook for 5-6 minutes until they’re tender.
Taste your soup, adjust the spices if needed, and give it one last stir. Serve it hot, topped with crispy bacon if you’ve made it.
Enjoy your cozy, belly-filling bowl of dumpling potato soup!
